SCAM REMINDER

11/16/2021

Law Enforcement Agencies continue to receive reports of a very well known scam where intended victims are receiving calls from perpetrators claiming to be local law enforcement agencies advising you that there are warrants for your arrest.  The caller advises you of the charges against you and further advises you of the fines you need to pay, via money order, Money Pak voucher cards, etc.

The telephone number that appears on your caller ID is usually a good number for that Law Enforcement Agency.  Again this is just part of the scam.  Through technology the perpetrator can mask the number they are actually calling from.

  • The first thing you should know is that we will not call you to advise you of the warrant.
  • Fines and other funds to remedy the warrant are paid to the court, not through a MoneyPak card.
  • DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IF ASKED.

Hang up on the caller.  Call the court clerk's office from the department the caller said he or she was from to confirm.
