UPDATE: Charges Filed in Shooting Investigation

Camdenton, MO - 04-04-23 - 10:00am - James C Mark, the suspect in last week's Horseshoe Bend shooting investigation has been charged.

 

Mark is charged with the Class B Felony of Assault in the 1st Degree, the Class B Felony of Burglary in the 1st Degree, the unclassified Felony of Armed Criminal Action, the Class D Felony of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and the Class A Misdemeanor of Attempted Escape from Confinement (stemming from an incident in the detention center on March 29th).

 

Mark is being held without bond and will appear before the court later this month.

 

A reminder that these charges are merely allegations of wrongdoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

UPDATE: Suspect in Custody in Shooting Investigation on Horseshoe Bend

 

Camdenton, MO - 03-28-23 - 1:20pm - James C Mark, the suspect in last night's shooting investigation, is in custody.

 

While searching the Horseshoe Bend area Camden County Sheriff's Deputies received a call from a citizen describing a black Chevrolet Tahoe parked at a residence on Thrush Road.  Deputies responded to the area and located Mark's 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe at the residence.  James Mark was sitting next to the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

 

Mark was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility and is being held while the investigation continues.

 

Sheriff Helms would like to extend his gratitude to the citizens of Camden County for the overwhelming amount of support in helping locate this suspect.

Camdenton, MO - 03-28-23 - Monday evening, sheriff's deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office responded to an apartment complex on Scarsdale Circle in the Village of Four Seasons to a report of a shooting. 

 

Upon arrival, deputies discovered one male subject with a gunshot wound to his chest.  The victim was transported to an area hospital for assessment and treatment of his injuries.  During the investigation, detectives discovered several spent shell casings and collected other evidence from the scene.

Witnesses on scene described the suspect as a white male with a mustache and wearing a gray sweatshirt who ran into the wood line after the shooting.  The suspect is believed to be armed with a handgun.

While deputies were searching for the suspect, Communications Officers received a call about an attempted auto theft at a nearby residence.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered what is believed to be the clothing the suspect was wearing at the shooting crime scene.  The witness in the attempted auto theft verified the description of the suspect and identified him as an acquaintance named James C Mark, 31, of Lake Ozark and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

James C Mark is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. He may be driving a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe with Oklahoma license LDV 623, but it is also possible he may have stolen another vehicle.  Mark may also be wearing a dark colored ballcap. If seen please contact the Camden County Sheriff's Office or local law enforcement.  This information has been forwarded to state, local, and regional law enforcement agencies.
