On Sunday, August 11, 2013 Camden County deputies responded to the Sunrise Beach area to a report of a male subject who had been shot. On arrival at the scene and subsequent investigation deputies were able to determine the shooting was accidental.

The investigation revealed the victim had been cleaning his revolver when it accidently discharged striking him in the abdomen. The victim was taken by Staff for Life Helicopter to University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia for treatment.
