Domestic Assault Arrest (Linn Creek)

On Saturday afternoon deputies responded to the 3500 block of Business Park Road in reference to a residential check for a wanted subject. Upon deputies’ approach to the home suspect Michael J. Smith fled from the rear door. Smith was apprehended after a short foot pursuit through the woods. During the pat-down search of Smith illegal substances were found on his person. Smith was handcuffed and placed into the rear seat of a patrol vehicle. While deputies spoke with witnesses, Smith was able to slip his handcuffs to his front, roll down a rear window and escape into the woods.

At 8:00 PM Smith was taken into custody in the 2400 block of State Route A after a citizen called 911 advising they found a male subject in their garage. Upon a deputy’s arrival to the home, they noted forced entry into the garage. Smith was found in the garage and taken into custody.

Smith’s charges:

Warrant (1) Domestic Assault 1st Class B Felony, Domestic Assault 2nd Class C Felony, Assault 2nd Class C Felony, Assault 3rd Class A Misdemeanor bond set at $15,000 cash and $50,000 surety.

Warrant (2) Burglary 1st Class B Felony, Possession of a controlled substance Class C Felony, Resisting arrest Class D Felony, Escape from custody Class D Felony, Possession of marijuana Class A Misdemeanor, Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia Class A Misdemeanor bond set at $250,000 cash or $250,000 surety.
