05/05/2011

For immediate release

Camden County MO:

Sheriff Dwight Franklin announced the results of April 30th National Drug Take Back day. The five sites Camdenton, Climax Springs, Mack’s Creek, Osage Beach, and Sunrise Beach all collected a total of 54 pounds of drugs.  As a result of this 54 pound of drugs that could be abused or end up in our ground water will be properly disposed of by DEA. The take back that occurred last fall across the nation resulted in 212 pounds of prescription drugs being turned in and destroyed.

Sheriff expressed his gratitude to the Camden County Ambulance and Sunrise Beach Fire Protection district for use of their facilities during this event, Osage Beach Police Department for their active involvement in the project and manning the Osage Beach site, and the Reserve Deputies that manned the take back sites out in the county.  Sheriff Franklin also congratulated LOWA on their successful hazardous waste disposal project.  The Sheriff said the two projects allowed for proper disposal of items that could end up in our ground water.
