Texas Man Charged with Burglary, Auto Theft and DWI

On the evening of August 21st, deputies from this department were flagged down by a shirtless man, later identified as 37 year old Dana Joseph Stewart of Plano, Texas, in the 200 block of Bittersweet Road in Lake Ozark. Stewart claimed someone was trying to hit him and appeared intoxicated due to his slurred speech and difficulty standing. Deputies then spoke with a nearby homeowner who stated he observed Stewart driving a golf cart just before the arrival of deputies and pointed out the location of the golf cart. Subsequent investigation revealed the golf cart to have just been stolen from inside the garage of a nearby residence. The golf cart was returned to the rightful owner and Stewart was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility.

Stewart has been charged with the Class C Felony of Burglary 2nd Degree, the Class C Felony of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, and the Class B Misdemeanor of Driving While Impaired – Alcohol. Stewart posted a $1000.00 cash bond and will appear in Camden County Associate Court on September 22nd.
