Sheriff’s Office Partners with Victim Outreach Center

02/16/2016

Camdenton

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office is very grateful to Citizens Against Domestic Violence for their donation of furniture to help create a “soft interview room” at the sheriff’s office. CADV and the Sheriff’s Office have a long history of assisting each other in reaching out to victims of crime, community concerns, and fundraising events.

A soft interview room is used to conduct interviews of victims and witnesses who have been through or witnessed traumatic events. The couch, chairs, carpet, and other furniture items will help create a place where deputies can conduct interviews in an environment more comfortable for victims than a standard interview room. This will allow the person being interviewed to concentrate on the details of the event and not be distracted by the more Spartan appearance of other interview rooms commonly used for suspect interviews.

This project is the latest example of partnership and cooperation between the sheriff’s office and CADV. The furniture is scheduled to be delivered to the sheriff’s office by volunteers on February 17th, 2016.
