Sunrise Beach Man Arrested on Several Warrants After Pursuit and Canine Tracking

03/01/2016

At approximately 10:00 am on Tuesday, 03-01-16, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a radio call from the Sunrise Beach Police Department that a vehicle had refused to stop for one of their officers and they were pursuing the vehicle into Camden County.

Deputies responded to the area of North State Highway Seven and Old Nonsuch Road where one of our deputies found the vehicle abandoned at the end of the road. The deputy then observed the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Zachary Parker, running into the woods. The deputy requested assistance from our tracking dog handler and his bloodhound canine partner, Nutmeg. Other deputies with assistance from the MSHP and the Sunrise Beach Police Department set up a perimeter in the area. After approximately one hour of tracking Parker through the woods, he ran out onto the road and was taken into custody without further incident.

Thirty-one year old Zachary Ryan Parker, of Sunrise Beach, was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility where he was booked on one outstanding Camden County warrant for violating bond conditions on original narcotics charges and several other misdemeanor warrants from neighboring jurisdictions. Parker is being held without bond and charges for this morning’s incident are pending.
