WHEN OUR ANIMALS DEPEND ON US

08/11/2017

On 8/10/2017 at approximately 8:30 pm, Camden County Communications received a call that 3 to 4 juveniles were setting puppies on fire in the area of Stoutland, Mo.  As it turns out, the juveniles may have been involved in vandalism t a business on the Laclede County side of Stoutland, however when the Camden County Deputies arrived they found a very emaciated mamma and her 6 puppies that were no more than 5 days old.

We'll probably never know the real story behind the call reference the animal cruelty but at least these creatures are safe.   The deputies placed the mamma and her pups in the squad and transported them to a temporary holding facility in Camdenton.  On the morning of 8/11/2017,  the CCSO Animal Control Officer managed to find a facility that will take the family until the pups can get adopted.  The runt of the litter is half the size of its brothers and sisters and will require additional help to survive.

That brings me to one of the most responsible things we can do for our pets;  Get them spayed and neutered.  It was not fair to this mamma dog or the pups to put them through their ordeal.  Mamma was obviously neglected and malnourished but she was taking care of her kids.  If you have any information about this situation, we would certainly like to hear about it.
