Dosmestic Assault and Assault on County Deputy

 On 8/14/2017 at approximately 10:20 pm, Camden County Communications received a call to a residence off Hidden Drive, Camdenton, Mo., reference a domestic assault.  When deputies arrived, the suspect’s wife, had visible signs of injury after being struck by her husband in the face and choked. 

 

 The suspect, Daniel J. Gaines,  age 35, had left the scene prior to the arrival of Deputies in a red 2010 F150 pick up.  At 11:53 pm, deputies located the suspect driving in the area of Hwy 54 and the North 5 exit.  Deputies executed a traffic stop in the area of N Hwy 5 and Harvest Road.  The suspect stopped and as deputies asked him to exit his vehicle, the suspect put his vehicle in gear and fled at a high rate of speed.

 

 As one of the deputies attempted to pass the fleeing suspect, the suspect began ramming the patrol vehicle several times on the dry gap bridge prior to the Niangua Bridge, disabling the patrol vehicle.  The suspect continued to the area of his residence and traveled through a ditch, disabling his vehicle.

 

 The suspect exited his vehicle and advanced on the deputies at which time a deputy’s taser was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.  The suspect's wife sought treatment for minor injuries at Lake Regional Hospital and was released. The deputy was taken to the Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was released.

 

The suspect is being held in the Camden County Adult Detention Center on multiple charges:

Ct 1 – Class A Fel – Assault 1st Degree

Ct 2 – Class A Fel – Domestic Assault

Ct 3 – Class C Fel – Property Damage

Ct 4 -  Class E Fel – Resisting Arrest

Ct 5 – Class D Misd – Possession of Marijuana
