Sunrise Beach Man Charged in Early Morning Shooting

08/05/2022

Camdenton, MO, 08-05-22 - At approximately 1:50 Thursday morning, 08-04-22, Camden County Deputies responded to the 500 block of Nuttall Oak Rd for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a victim to the shooting had already been transported to the hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.  During the investigation deputies discovered the victim had been involved in an argument with the suspect, who was later identified as 36-year-old Corbin L Everitt, of Sunrise Beach.  During the argument Everitt produced a pistol and fired one shot, hitting the victim under the left arm.  Everitt then fled the scene.

Deputies conducted an area canvas in an attempt to locate Everitt with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Sunrise Beach Police Department, however the heavy thunderstorms hindered their efforts.  At approximately 8:00 am deputies and officers from the Sunrise Beach Police Department located Everitt hiding in the office of a Sunrise Beach beauty salon.  Several family members had assisted Everitt in evading law enforcement efforts and assisted him in hiding in the salon.  Deputies located the pistol used in the shooting inside a family member's vehicle.

Everitt was booked into the Camden County Adult Detention Facility and charged with the Class D Felony of 2nd Degree Assault and the Unclassified Felony of Armed Criminal Action. He is being held without bond.

A reminder that these charges are merely allegations of wrongdoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
