Shooting Investigation on Horseshoe Bend

Camdenton, MO, 03-28-23 - Monday evening, sheriff's deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office responded to an apartment complex on Scarsdale Circle in the Village of Four Seasons to a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered one male subject with a gunshot wound to his chest.  The victim was transported to an area hospital for assessment and treatment of his injuries.  During the investigation, detectives discovered several spent shell casings and collected other evidence from the scene.

Witnesses on scene described the suspect as a white male with a mustache and wearing a gray sweatshirt who ran into the wood line after the shooting.  The suspect is believed to be armed with a handgun.

While deputies were searching for the suspect, Communications Officers received a call about an attempted auto theft at a nearby residence.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered what is believed to be the clothing the suspect was wearing at the shooting crime scene.  The witness in the attempted auto theft verified the description of the suspect and identified him as an acquaintance named James C Mark, 31, of Lake Ozark and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

James C Mark is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.  He may be driving a black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe with Oklahoma license LDV 623, but it is also possible he may have stolen another vehicle.  Mark may also be wearing a dark colored ballcap. If seen please contact the Camden County Sheriff's Office or local law enforcement.  This information has been forwarded to state, local, and regional law enforcement agencies.
