Camdenton, MO - 07-02-25 - Sheriff Chris Edgar confirms the arrest of 52-year-old Peter GR Fox, a sworn police officer with the Sunrise Beach Police Department, and his girlfriend, 45-year-old Candelaria W Stacy, 45, of Sunrise Beach, following a traffic stop that resulted in the discovery of illegal narcotics and contraband.

On the evening of July 1st, 2025, at approximately 5:15 PM, a Camden County Deputy with the Mid Missouri Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Fox's vehicle in the area of State Road MM and Via Del Lago Dr. 

During the stop, the deputy observed suspicious behavior from both occupants, including inconsistent statements. During a consent search of the vehicle the deputy discovered and seized approximately four grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia commonly used in the ingestion of methamphetamine including syringes, a metal spoon, and a cut straw with methamphetamine residue. The deputy also discovered and seized two loose pills later identified as benzodiazepine.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Center. At that time the Deputy contacted me to advise me of the situation. I immediately reached out to Sunrise Beach Police Chief Scott Craig. Chief Craig took immediate action and has confirmed with our office that Fox has been terminated as a result of this incident.

Fox and Stacy are charged with two counts each of the Class D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

It is deeply troubling when a law enforcement officer is involved in alleged criminal activity, but we will continue to pursue justice without fear or favor. The Camden County Sheriff's Office, Mid Missouri Drug Task Force and the Sunrise Beach Police Department continue to investigate the case.

A reminder that these charges are merely allegations of wrongdoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
