Camdenton, MO - 07-19-25 - Sheriff Chris Edgar confirms the arrest of 39-year-old Matthew A Taylor, a suspect in a burglary investigation that began in the Macks Creek area during the Independence Day Weekend.

On July 3rd, this office asked the public for help locating Taylor for questioning in a burglary investigation. After two weeks of following leads and interviewing prospective witnesses, detectives were able to narrow down the search area to a rural part of Eastern Laclede County in the 38,000 block of Fairview Road. Yesterday afternoon, July 18th, detectives responded with deputies from the Laclede County Sheriff's Office to the area and took Taylor into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

Taylor was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility. He is charged with the Class B Felony of Burglary in the 1st Degree, the Class B Felony of Assault in the 1st Degree, the Class C Felony of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Felony Armed Criminal Action. He is being held without bond.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office is grateful to Laclede County Sheriff Matt Frederick and the men and women of the Laclede County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with our investigation. Interagency cooperation continues to help us and our neighbors round up criminals in our communities.

A reminder that these charges are merely allegations of wrongdoing. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
