Arrest in (2004) Homicide Investigation Camdenton, Mo

Sheriff Dwight D. Franklin announces:

On Sunday, April 21, 2013 and Monday, April 22, 2013, Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, and the Camdenton Police Department made an arrest in connection with a cold case investigation stemming from an April 2004 homicide.

These agencies, in cooperation with the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad, began investigating the homicide of 48 year old Tommy D Hope when he was found dead of multiple stab wounds in his Camdenton home on April 28, 2004. After the initial investigation of more than sixty leads, investigators were unable to make an arrest with the evidence available.

On April 22, 2013, while incarcerated on unrelated Camden County stalking charges, Clara Jean Rector of Laurie was questioned in relation to the Hope homicide. During questioning, Clara Rector admitted she stabbed Hope. Clara Rector was originally a person of interest during the initial 2004 investigation, but investigators were unable to connect her directly to the murder.

Clara Jean Rector, 36 year old white female of Laurie Missouri has been charged with a Class (A) Felony of Murder 1st degree and Felony Armed Criminal Action bond denied.

On April 23, 2013, Jason Rector was arrested by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Camden County SWAT Officers at his home in Laurie. Jason Rector was arrested in connection with evidence tampering.

Jason Paul Rector, 46 year old white male of Laurie, Missouri has been charged with a Class (D) Felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence, bond denied.

Both subjects are being held in the Camden County Adult Detention Facility.
