Property Inventory

03/02/2018

It is very important to have a personal property inventory readily accessible in case of a loss, whether it be from theft or fire.

When Law Enforcement respond to a reported loss from car, residence, storage unit, boat, etc., often times the victim has no idea what they have lost.  The victim many times can not adequately describe the property that is missing and cannot provide identifiers so that the item(s) can be entered into the stolen property data base.

When serialized items are purchased, especially guns and electronics, note the make, model and serial numbers.  If the items don't possess a serial number, apply an owner applied number.  Do not use your social or driver's license number as your owner applied number.

If you have collectables or jewelry, of course you don't want to deface them.  Take good photos of the items and describe them in detail on a property log.

These logs and photos are of particular importance with dealing with insurance companies.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Camden County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Arlyne Page, 573-346-2243 x 249.
